Dr. Cassie Jones

Founder/Owner
local vets

Dr. Cassie Jones, founder/owner of Point Vicente Animal Hospital, has enjoyed a professionally rich and rewarding career since her graduation from the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine, in 1988.

Subsequent to receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, she completed a one-year internship at West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. In 1990, Dr. Jones joined the staff at Wilshire Animal Hospital in Santa Monica. During the following nine years, she worked with not only dogs and cats but also a wide variety of small animals, including birds, reptiles, rabbits, "pocket pets," and pot bellied pigs.

In 1995, while working in Santa Monica, Dr. Jones became a member of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). What does that mean? Dr. Jones underwent a difficult process of additional study and examination to become a Board Certified Specialist in the care and treatment of dogs and cats. As an ABVP Diplomate, it is accepted that she has proven knowledge and expertise above and beyond what is required to practice veterinary medicine. It also means that your pets are receiving expert treatment and a strong commitment to providing the best possible care to animals in need.

Equally concerned about enhancing the quality of care for all animals, Dr. Jones has been and continues to be involved in numerous professional organizations. She is a Past President of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association and served four years as a Veterinary Medical Board Hospital Inspector for the California Department of Consumer Affairs. In addition, Dr. Jones has held numerous positions with both the California and American Veterinary Medical Associations and as a District Governor to the CVMA.

Her current extracurricular affiliation is with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy where she serves on their Board of Directors.  Preserving open space for the education and enjoyment of all is their mission and her special interest is in providing awareness to people of this beautiful place and making sure they can appreciate the diversity of animal life in our Preserves, in the sea, on the shore and in the air.  What does she think about the peacocks?  "Well, they're really pretty....and the chicks are very cute."

In 2001, Dr. Jones re-opened a closed veterinary hospital in the Golden Cove Shopping Center in Rancho Palos Verdes.  After 10 years of success and 10 years of a leaky roof, she moved the practice to the new building next door.  A Rancho Palos Verdes local, Cassie lives in Portuguese Bend with two cats, two tortoises and one husband.  Point Vicente Animal Hospital opened in  2001.
